Budget 2024 Expectations: Calls for Green Building Incentives and Retail Boost

As the anticipation for the Union Budget 2024 grows, industry leaders are voicing their expectations and wishlist for the upcoming financial plan. Annu Talreja, Founder & CEO at Accacia, emphasized the need for the government to introduce financial incentives for the production and utilization of green building materials. Talreja highlighted the importance of aligning with NDC goals and reducing the carbon footprint of the construction sector through measures such as reduced GST rates, tax credits, or grants for companies manufacturing environmentally friendly construction materials.

On the other hand, Abhinav Kumar, full-time director and CEO of Brand Concepts Limited, expressed hopes for policies that would boost domestic consumption and support the retail industry. Kumar emphasized the need for measures that make it easier to do business and create a favorable environment for companies to thrive. He also stressed the importance of enhancing purchasing power for salaried individuals and taxpayers to drive consumption growth.

Prashant Singh, Co-Founder & CEO at Blue Planet Environmental Solutions, highlighted the government’s focus on reducing carbon emissions through waste management within the circular economy. Singh emphasized the potential of waste-to-energy solutions in transforming waste into alternative resources and energy, thereby supporting the clean energy transition and creating sustainable employment opportunities.

Dhiresh Bansal, CFO at Meesho, remained optimistic about the government’s commitment to growing the startup ecosystem. Bansal emphasized the need for sustained government support to elevate the number of startups in India and create a conducive environment for innovation, job generation, and sustainable economic development.
