Ball State University Professor Awarded Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship for Education Center in Ghana

Ball State University’s Michael T. Ndemanu, an associate professor of multicultural education and social foundations, has been awarded the prestigious Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship. This fellowship, offered by the Institute of International Education, will allow Ndemanu to collaborate with faculty and students from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana to establish a Center for Transformative Education.

During his two-month stay in Ghana this summer, Ndemanu will work towards advancing educational practices and creating new opportunities for community engagement and learning. His expertise in transformative education, multicultural education, and social foundations in education will be instrumental in the establishment of this center.

In other news, the Community Foundation has announced the recipients of several scholarships for 2024. Students from various high schools and colleges in the area have been awarded scholarships to pursue their academic goals in fields such as fashion industry, nursing, teaching, pre-med, and more.

Additionally, Cornfed Roller Derby will be hosting the fourth annual Smalltown Smackdown roller derby tournament at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. The two-day event will feature multiple games on Saturday and Sunday, with a championship game on Sunday evening.
